{tutorial} rainbow party streamer backdrop

{tutorial}
streamer
rainbow
backdrop
from our st patricks day party
per many requests here is the tutorial of how we made our rainbow backdrop for our
st patty party
it was super EASY, NO SEW, and CHEAP.
promise - you can make it.

1. start by collecting different color streamers & some masking tape
{note: clear scotch tape did not stick well to the streamers...not sure why}
2. lay a long piece of tape sticky side up - how long? depends on how big you want the rainbow to be. the length of the tape will be the length of the rainbow.
3. secure the tape in place by turing the ends to stick on your working surface
4. take the roll of streamer {don't try to rip a piece off or measure it out. i tried it and it was a big headache} and attach it to the tape, unraveling and bunching it up as you go to create the "ruffle effect"
NOTE: this is the longest step.
 i am not going to pretend that i didn't get annoyed at one point or another.
i may or may not have thrown a streamer roll.
or two.

5. take the red streamer and lay it on the poster board in the shape you want.
add small pieces of tape every 6 in or so to keep it in place
6. continue to layer each streamer with a slight overlap

NOTE: i love foam board. it is a great backdrop IF you get one big enough.
the biggest & cheapest i have found is at HOBBY LOBBY.
40x60in for about $10
ps. michaels has them but the biggest is about 30x40 and you CANT use your coupon for it.
{well...one time i got in a fight with them and they let me use it. but for the most party you can't lol}
i digress. sorry.

7. the ends will be all uneven so trim them up and secure with a piece of tape
8. i cut out a pot using cardstock & found lightweight gold coins
9. attach the pot & coins with tape

10. ball up white tissue paper  and tape the back to secure
11. attach to foam board

TA-DA!!!
done.

    1. i am out of town right now so i can't measure to be sure but i think they were about 4-5 ft? i would lay out the piece of tape first in the shape you want so that you know how long to make it! i hope that helps!
