{TUTORIAL} 3D paint chip egg decor

did i mention i love easter?
i thought so...

i have seen paint chip garlands that are adorable - like the one here.
there have been so many though that i am just guessing this is the link that did it first? dunno.
but i don't have a cute fireplace. there is a large tv over it and it kinda drives me
crazy that i can't decorate my mantle.
so i had to think in terms of 3D.
this is what i came up with.

 pick out some paint chips.
i love that these are free.
{but i still sneak them out of the store like they are not... why does it embarass me so much?!}
 use a template and cut out egg shapes
you will need 3 of a color to make ONE 3D egg... so do the math.

1. use double sided tape and place it on one side of the back of the egg
2. take another egg and press the backsides together
3. add two pieces of tape to the empty side of both eggs
4. bend and insert the final egg and press to secure

now... how to hang it

by hubby's suggestion {one of his few good ones}
i used fishing wire and bobbers to hang them

1. hang the fishing wire from the chandelier
2. slide 3 bobbers on to the line in the desired location
3. from the bottom up, slide the 3D egg over the bobbers

  8. I tried these last night, and I couldn't get them to stay stuck together! The double-stick tape kept popping apart. I was so sad. I'll have to figure out something else to do with the egg-shaped paint chips :)
